Learning Outcome: Children will be able to explore different modes of transport and traffic rules.
As part of our curriculum, we have field trip to a railway station, traffic signals, zebra crossing and Footpath. The children first observed the vehicle on road such as cars, motorbikes, auto rickshaws, rickshaws, buses and so on. They not only counted the number of wheels each vehicle had but also observed the size and shape of them.
Next, the children noticed a train moving on the track. They also identified that it had more wheels and run faster than other vehicles. The children differentiated that some vehicles like cars, buses moved on road and vehicles like train moves on the track. The children observed the traffic lights and understood the vehicles stopped when the signal showed red, moved when it showed green and waited when it showed yellow.
Later, they experienced the way they had to cross the road using zebra crossing and the safe place to pedestrians on the road is footpath. This trip will certainly help the children mind the traffic rules for their safety in crowded traffic.
