Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan, Annavaram conducted ‘Kids Art and Craft Mela” event on 5th January, 2023 based on the theme “Best out of Waste”. As a part of event, students prepared many crafts using wooden sticks, bottle caps, coconut shells, Caton boxes, flexy rolls etc. Each and every class prepared 2crafts. LKG kids marbled the wood and bulb turning them to a colourful art. UKG children prepared a girl of collage art using pencil dust and small colour paper pieces. Class-I made bird frames and fish aquarium using beach seeds. Class-II painted the pebbles as cactus, honeybee, lady bug. Class-III molded the carton box into snails and fish skeletons. Christmas is celebrated with joy and cheers in the school premises. Br. R. Sunil Kumar preeched on Jesus birth, importance of Christmas and had prayer. Few of the students dressed as Santa Claus and Anges. Students of class 4&5 sang sweet songs praising the lord. Mr. Raju teacher of Social Students enlightened the students with his brief message on Christmas. Students decorated the premises with Christmas tree and stars.
As a part of Atithi program Dr. K. Harish MBBS, MS Civil Asst.Surgeon, Ravikampadu, PHC visited SPVN Annavaram. He interacted with the students and knew them their eating habits. He explained that body needs balanced diet for growth. He also detailed about the food that should be included in their diet for better nutrition. He also quoted that "If we eat junk food, excessive fat, sugars are accumulated in the body which leads to obesity, diabetes at very young age". He also shared that salt consumption for a human body should be 5 grams (above 1 tablespoon) per day. Some of our children's queries are clarified by him. The program is concluded by learning hand washing steps for better hygiene.
Students of Class – 6 had knowledge in agriculture and practical experience lively when they visited paddy and Sun Hemp fields at Bendapudi as the part of field trip. Agriculturalist Satyanarayana Raju garu explained the whole process of cultivation of paddy in detail – ploughing, sowing, planting, weeding, fertilizing, reaping, so on….. Types of cropping seasons such as Kharif, Rabi and Zaid are also explained. Paddy requires 100% water and temperature. Moreover, cultivation of sun hemp (Janumu) as rabi crop gives a double benefit one hand it increases the fertility of the soil and the other hand it is used as animal fodder. Janumu (sun hemp) is sown few days before reaping the Kharif crop paddy. The sun hemp grows within 3 months. It can survive with a little water of even with moisture. When it grows fully blooms yellow flowers then it is cut and made a heap.
Children of Class – 3 identified various vegetables, grains, spices and sea food sold in the village fair @ Bendapudi and learnt the price of different vegetables, weighing and bargaining and process of preservation. They interacted with different vendors like vegetable, spices, dry fish and sapling and learnt the process of weighing the vegetables by observing different weighting stones like Kg, ½ kg, stones etc. students noticed few of the vendors selling their goods not only in kilos but also in dozens. This made them very interesting. They also observed the same vegetable or good is sold in different prices and learned about their profit and loss in a day.
Students develop thinking skills as they try to relate the various things around them, to the metals from which they are made. Students of SPVN, Annavaram visited 'Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi Copper Works" located in Annavaram. This industry is a small scale industry established 60years ago. Mr. Subramanyam Garu proprietor of the copper industry gave the information about the raw material and manufacturing process. Students observed that there are limited machineries like metal cutter, leveler, metal printer, moulder and so on. They learned the process of making of coins and printing on them. Mr. Subramanyam Garu blessed the children with small brass pendants.
children understand better when they visit the work place than in the four wall of classroom. To witness this, students of class -7 visited handlooms at Bendapudi as a part of Field trip. Weaver Nageswarao elaborated the whole process involved in weaving a saree like - Boiling, Dyeing, Spinning, Street Sizing of yarn...etc. Weaver Venkata Ramana explained what is warp & weft and how they intersect each other. Another weaver Laxmi expressed the problems they face because of tough competition, change of fashion, trend, scarcity of raw materials and involvement of middle man. She also quoted " one should have taste/interest to wear such silk/cotton clothes made on handlooms.
Students of Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, Annavaram had food sharing among them with joy and cheers on the occasion of Children's day. Students of each class prepared at least a recipe like - muri mixture, boiled peanuts, chikki, ravva laddu, butter milk, sarabath, fruit juice, vegetable and fruit salads. Students prepared beautiful articles and displayed them. They enthralled the audience with few skits on the value of food and inutrition. Sr. Principal sri MVVS Muthy addressed the students how important it is to have the balanced diet regularly and joined the students of class 7 for the lunch.
We are happy to share that students of Sriprakash Vidyaniketan, Annavaram marked their scintillating performance in "KRIYA- 2022" state level competitions held on 19th and 20th of November at JNTU, Kakinada. Nearly 29 students from our school participated in the various competitions with great joy. Around 200 Students from various schools both Govt and private in every event participated. We are very happy to share that few of our students gave their best and played an amazing role in various events and bagged prizes.
