The Journey of APSRTC

The unique programme of Yatra- learning through travel has always been very a fruitful expedition for the students of Sri Prakash. Many of the queries of the students related to their bus journey were clarified when they visited the RTC bus depot Tuni. Students of grade VII Sri Prakash Tuni   visited the APSRTC bus depot on 8th August along with their teachers to have a hands-on experience of how the APSRTC functions.
Mr. D. Siva prasad, Superintendent, Tuni Depot, was ready with an abundance of information to share with the students. Explaining the structure of the RTC, he mentioned how the Britishers started the public transport system in the pre-independence India. He added that the APSRTC is the largest transport provider in Andhra Pradesh. The Tuni depot came into existence in 1979 and presently has 40 buses under its purview which runs on a daily basis to different places. The APSRTC is the first ever state transport which started the cargo services. When a few students enthusiastically asked what the Z symbol in the name plates of the buses stands for, he explained that it is in respect of Zahra Begum, the last queen of Nizams. The students visited the mechanical shed of the APSRTC and witnessed the maintenance of buses. Answering the queries of students, Mr Siva prasad stated that he was very happy to see such enthusiastic students and their questions. The students returned to school with a rich experience which they presented in the form of Articles.
