As part of Yatra, students of VIII & IX class visited Tandava sugar factory, P.R.Peta, on 28.12.17. The students were given demonstration on how sugarcane is converted to sugar using various machinery. Sugarcane is leveled and cut into small pieces and then crushed to get sugar syrup which is then boiled in boilers and mixed with sulphur and calcium hydroxide . Then it is cooled to get crystallized sugar in 3 is generated which is then refined to get fine quality of sugar. From there packing of sugar into bags takes place .They are then carried for storage was also clearly shown. The wastage produced in this process is used for power generation, sent to paper industry and used as fertilizer also. The molasses part of sugar is used for preparation of beverages and chocolates. We thanked the Managing Director L.S.Naidu by presenting him the book memento for providing us the opportunity to visit the sugar factory and for enlightening our children with the production of sugar.
