The students of Grades -6 & 7 were taken on a field trip to the Tuni municipal office to explore the functioning of the various departments of the urban administration. The commissioner of Tuni Municipality Mr. B.J.S. Prasad Raju explained that there are 30 councillors and 5 departments. All the council members gather monthly once in the council hall and take decisions regarding town planning. Students observed different departments of the Tuni Municipality for Administration, Public health, Engineering , Town planning and Revenue. After that Mrs.Sunitha,the personal assistant of Municipal Chair Person explained the types of taxes such as property tax, vacant land tax, water tax, etc . She elucidated the importance of each department. In the town planning section they see the planning of the town, and approve the construction of buildings. In the Engineering section, they observe construction and repairing of roads, providing street lights, etc. The Health and Administration department provides clean drinking water and food safety etc. In the Revenue department, they collect taxes from the people. At present a total of 62 staff members are working in the Tuni Municipal office. The present Municipal office of Tuni was built in 1959. The students had good interaction with the Municipal Commissioner and the other officials during this field trip.
