Sri K. Dharma Raju, Head constable in border security force (BSF) was invited as our Athidhi to interact with the students of 5th, 6th and 7th at Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, CBSE, Tuni.Mr. K. Dharma Raju has been working in BSF since 2004. Presently he is working in the state of Rajasthan in Jaisalmer district for Pakistan- India border. He explained about the line of control. It is also called zero line. They are the front liners on the border before the army soldiers. He motivated the children to dream of becoming the soldier and asked children to be fit and healthy. He said that discipline is more important to join in BSF and the minimum qualification is 10th for the post of constable and for the higher ranks minimum qualification is degree.He even shared about the Battalions. There are 13 main Battalions in our BSF. Each Battalion has 1300 members and divided into different committees from A to G category. He explained about all the paramilitary forces of India using Audio- Visual aids. They are Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and National security Guard (NSG).
Children learnt that there are many phases in the training of BSF. They start with the drill, 45 minutes running and then exercise followed by Field Physical Efficiency Test (FPET). They need to run with 14 items lie gun, magazine and other items for 3 kilo metres. They need to climb 6 feet wall and under go 9 feet long jump daily. Children posed many questions related to BSF and explored about the training, weapons, safety measures, physical fitness and discipline that play major role in their life time. He even added that whole India is his family and any work should be done with commitment and happiness when children asked him, "Don’t you miss your family?". The children had a lively interaction.
