True to this vision, the 8th-grade students recently embarked on an inspiring field trip to a small-scale handloom industry, gaining invaluable insights into a traditional craft. During the visit, the students were fascinated by the intricate art of saree weaving. They observed the meticulous arrangement of threads and the elaborate design processes involved in creating stunning handloom sarees. Subrahmanyam Garu, a knowledgeable member of the cooperative society, graciously answered their questions, explaining the origins of raw materials, export destinations, and the wage system for workers. This interactive session also shed light on the challenges facing the handloom industry in India. Students learned about the factors contributing to its decline, sparking discussions on potential solutions to preserve this heritage craft.
