As a part of our school curriculum we took our 4th class students to field trip to Tandava Co-operative sugars Limited No.C.80 with the funds of Indian government, New Delhi and C.D.A.C .Tiruvananthapuram. Factory stone laid by former honorable Chief Minister Sri.Jalagam Vengala Rao on 21st May 1975.Present M.D of this factory is Mr.V.V.Ramana Nearly 350 to 400 workers are working in this factory. The target of crushing sugar cane per a day is nearly 1500 tons. Maximum time for crushing is 8 to 9 hours. In this factory they are using electricity produced by wood & crushed sugar cane pulp using to get steam. With the steam they can boil the sugar cane juice in very big boilers. (2 big boilers are working). After boiling, the sugarcane juice sends through various machines to make as sugar. This factory is built 22 to 25 acres of area. The main 4 main steps in producing sugar are
1. Making fire by using wood & sugar cane pulp.
2. Producing the steam to heat the boilers
3. Boiling the sugarcane juice in boilers and
4. Making sugar using machinery.
Children experienced how the sugar is prepared they also know about the industry located in our area.
