Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan, CBSE, Tuni, in collaboration with FOGSI Kakinada, organised a PMOS Awareness Initiative on 21st September 2026 for mothers and girl students of Grades- 8, 9 and 10. Dr. N. Sruthi, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, conducted the informative session.
Dr. Sruthi explained PMOS, metabolism, genetic factors, puberty and menstrual concerns, including its possible impact on fertility and heavy menstrual flow. She highlighted preventive lifestyle measures such as healthy eating, understanding simple and complex carbohydrates, adequate sleep, stress management, meditation, yoga and brisk walking.
The session also focused on menstrual hygiene, including changing sanitary pads regularly. Students and parents actively participated in an interactive Q&A session, raising questions about frequent periods during the 40s and menstrual care.
The programme was a valuable initiative towards creating awareness, confidence and healthier lifestyle choices among adolescent girls and mothers.
