We took our 3rd class students to Tuni Municipal Office to explore about the functioning of the local self Government the Commissioner of Tuni Municipality is Mr. Prasad Raju. Mrs.Kumari is the Chairman. She is the second Joint Collector of East Godavari District. Children observed different sectors of Tuni Municipality such as Town Planning sector, engineering section, Health Department, Revenue department and so on. In town planning section they see the planning of the town that means they observe the plan and approve for construction of buildings. Engineering section, they monitor construction and repairing of roads, providing street lights. In health and administration department provide clean drinking water and food safety etc. They register Birth and Death of the people of Tuni Municipality and issue the certificates. They are providing pension schemes, for poor, old people and handicapped people issuing Arogya sree health cards. The health and administration department takes care of sanitation cleanliness of the town. Smaller towns have municipalities which are headed by a chair person. By this field trip children came to know about different departments in Municipal office and people who are working to govern the town. We explained the importance of people who are working in Municipality.
