As a part of our curriculum Athidhi we invited Mr.Singamsetti Nageswara rao farmer of Satyavaram to make our children know about the crops grown in and around our Tuni town. He explained the process of growing paddy and sugar cane. He shared that paddy crop needs more water facility so this crop is grown from the beginning of the rainy season.So the farmers grow it from July month. This crop is grown according to the seasons two times, Ruby and Kharief the first crop is known as ruby and second one is kharief. When the crop affected by different insecticides farmers take the suggestions from the agriculture officers and use the pesticides to protect the crop. He also explained how the new machinery useful to the farmers to make the work easy and fast. He also made the children understand how the crop rotation helps to increase the fertility of the soil. He shared with children that basing on the fertility of the soil 20 to 40 bags of paddy can be yield per an acre of land. The other crops in and around Tuni are cashew, mangoes, bananas, betel leaves. Children saw different machinery used in different phases of growing paddy through videos.
