CHEERFUL UTTARAYAN !

Makar Sankranthi is a pious and hugely celebrated  four days festivity period which is dedicated to Lord Sun. The sun God is worshipped for bestowing good harvest and nurturing live stock, especially bulls and cows are worshipped for their significance in traditionally ploughing fields. Grade-2 children explained the significance of the four days-- Bhogi, Makara Sankranthi, Kanuma and Mukkanuma, the sun God and the 12 Rasis. Children were dressed as the street performers like Pittaladora, Gangiredhula melam, Budabukalodu, Haridasu, Venkateswara Swamy, Godha devi, . Various cultural programmes depicted the significance of sankranthi like Bhogipallu, Bhoghi mantalu, Gobbiyalu, Basavana, Bommalakoluvu. Sumptuous ‘sweet Pongali’ was prepared in a traditional way. The celebration of Sankranthi vibrated with positive festive spirit  and the students had the audience spell-bound.
