RULES & REGULATIONS

I. MUSIC

1. CLASSICAL VOCAL SOLO (HINDUSTANI / CARNATIC)

  1. Item can be presented in either Hindustani or Carnatic style.
  2. b Maximum No. of accompanists are TWO.
  3. Time allotted for each is not less than 8 min. and not more than 15 Mts.
  4. Film songs are not allowed.
  5. Judgement will be based on qualities like Swara, Tala, Selection of Raga,
  6. Compositions and general impression.

2. GROUP SONGS

  1. Two group songs should be presented by the same team out of which one will be a folk song.
  2. Each group should consist of a maximum of 6 members.
  3. Maximum number of accompanists can be 3.
  4. The group song should be taken from Indian songs, which can be of any regional language.
  5. Lyric of the songs to be submitted before 28th Dec. 2012 to the Program Coordinator for scrutiny.
  6. Maximum time allotted for each group is 10 Min. and the maximum setting time is 10 Min.
  7. Judgement will be based on quality of singing only and on make up, costumes of all boys or all girls.
  8. The team should consist of all boys or all girls.

3. LIGHT VOCAL SOLO

  1. Only ONE participant is allowed.
  2. Maximum Time allotted is 8 Min.
  3. Film Folk Songs / Ghazal / Bhazan / Shahbad / Adhangas can be presented.
  4. Lyric of the song to be submitted before 28th Dec. 2012 to the Program Coordinator for scrutiny.

 

II DANCE

1.GROUP DANCE.

  1. Maximum No. of participants allowed per team are 10.
  2. The dance can be either tribal or folk or western.
  3. Duration of dance should not be more than 10 Min.
  4. Two copies of a brief note giving the theme and the text, if any, is to be submitted before 28th Dec. 2012 to the Program Coordinator for scrutiny.
  5. The participants should bring their own instruments etc., and remove them quickly as soon as their programme is completed.
  6. The team should consist of all boys or of all girls.
  7. Judgment will be based basically on the qualities like Tala, Technique, Rhythm, Abhinaya of Expression, Costumes, Footwork, General Impression, etc.

2. GROUP DANCE (LIVE)

  1. Maximum number of participants allowed per team is 10. The team may consist of all boys or all girls but not mixing of both.
  2. The number of accompanists permissible is five.
  3. The Dance can be either primitive or a folk dance (Indian Style) but not a classical one.
  4. Duration of dance should not be more than 10 minutes.
  5. Time for change over is only 5 min.
  6. The participating team will be responsible for the removal of their set properties, etc., immediately after the competition of their performance.
  7. Recorded audio will not be permitted.
  8. Two copies of a brief note giving the theme and the text, if any, is to be submitted before 28th Dec. 2012 to the Program Coordinator for scrutiny.
  9. Judgement will be based on the basis of rhythm, formation, expression, costumes, makeup sets and overall effect.

3. CLASSICAL DANCE (SOLO)

  1. Classical dance can be only of the approved schools of dances such as Kathak, Kathakali, Bharatnatyam, Manipuri, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam, Odissi, etc.,
  2. Each participant will be allowed up to 15 Min. including time for preparation, exit etc.,
  3. Maximum 3 accompanists are permissible.
  4. Two copies of a brief note giving the theme and the text, if any, are to be submitted to the judges before the programme.
  5. Judgement will be based basically on the qualities like Tala, Technique, Rhythm, Abhinaya of Expression, Costumes, Footwork and General Impression etc.

 

III. LITERARY EVENTS

1. QUIZ

  1. Each team should consist of 3 persons.
  2. There will be a preliminary screening test and finally 4 teams will be selected for the final.
  3. The final will be Oral and may consist of Audio, Visual Questions also.
  4. The specific rules regarding evolution procedure and conditions will be given before the actual start of the competition.
  5. The team should consist of all boys or all girls, who should attempt the screening test with all the team members answering the same paper.

2. JAM

  1. Each participant will be given 1 Min. Time.
  2. Medium of expression can be in English or Telugu.
  3. Anybody passing personal aspersions on any religion, caste, creed, person or party will be disqualified.
  4. Judgement will most likely be made on qualities like matter, delivery, diction and impact created.
  5. 5. Topic will be announced before one hour of the competition.

3. ESSAY WRITING

  1. Maximum time allotted is 30 Min.
  2. It can be written in English or Telugu.
  3. Topic will be announced before one day of the competition.
  4. Judgement will be made on the qualities like matter, narration etc.

4. DEBATE

  1. Each team will be represented by 2 debaters in argument type.
  2. Max. time for the pair is 6 Min.
  3. 3. Topic will be announced one day before.
  4. Medium of expression will be either in English or in Telugu.
  5. Anybody passing personal aspersions on religion, caste, creed, person or party will be disqualified.
  6. Judgement will mostly likely be made on qualities like matter, delivery, diction and impact created
  7. Each participant has to submit one copy of the matter to the judge before the programme

5. TECH PRESENTATION

  1. Each participant will be given 10 Min. Time and max. slides should not exceed 8.
  2. Medium of expression can be in English or Telugu.
  3. Anybody passing personal aspersions on any religion, caste, creed, person or party will be disqualified.
  4. Judgement will most likely be made on qualities like style, matter, delivery, diction and impact created.
  5. 5. Topic will be announced on 24th Dec. 2012.

6. SCIENCE EXHIBITS:

  1. The showpiece or exhibit should be prepared prior to the show and displayed during the exhibition.
  2. A team should consist a maximum of three members.
  3. A team can present any number of exhibits.
  4. Judgement is based on its cost effectiveness and utility(working models preferred).

 

IV.THEATRE ARTS

1. TRIVIA

  1. Maximum numbers of participants permissible in each team are 8.
  2. Maximum time allotted for each team is 20 mins.
  3. The group should present 3 different items in the allotted time (eg.-skit, mime, groupdance or any such theatre art event). Skit is compulsory as one item.
  4. Use of make-up, drapery and background music is allowed.
  5. Theme in printed form to be submitted before 28th Dec. 2012 to the Program Coordinator for scrutiny.
  6. No personal remarks, aspersions, character assassination, etc are allowed.
  7. Maximum No. Of accompanists permissible is 3.
  8. The item will be basically judged on the qualities like teamwork, co-ordination, acting, stagecraft and general impressions.
  9. The team should consist of all boys or all girls.

2. MIME

  1. Maximum No. Of 6 participants are allowed to participate in this team.
  2. Only ONE accompanist is allowed.
  3. Maximum time allowed for each team is 5 Mins.
  4. Judgement will mostly likely be based on the qualities like idea, creativity of presentation, use of make-up, costumes, music and general impression.
  5. Theme in printed form to be submitted before 28th Dec. 2012 to the Program Coordinator for scrutiny.
  6. The item should consist of all boys or all girls.

3. MONO ACTION

  1. 1. Maximum time allotted is 6 Mins.
  2. 2. Only ONE accompanist is allowed.
  3. 3. Use of make-up, drapery and background music is allowed.
  4. Theme in printed form to be submitted before 28th Dec. 2012 to the Program Coordinator for scrutiny.
    1. 5. The item will be judges basically on the qualities like action, modulation of voice etc.

4.  MIMICRY:

  1. Each participant will be given a maximum time of 10 Min.
  2. Preference will be given to those who can mimic a wide variety of sounds.
  3. The dialogues in the mimicry should be dignified and socially enjoyable.
  4. Judgement is based on the quality of sounds and general impression.

5. SHORT FILM:

  1. Maximum No. Of 5 participants are allowed to participate in this team.
  2. Maximum duration allowed for each film is 5 Mins.
  3. Final Film should be handed over to the concerned program incharge by 5pm on       29th Dec. 2012 on a CD in Windows Media Player Compatible Format.
  4. Judgement will mostly likely be based on the qualities like idea, creativity of presentation, use of make-up, costumes, music and general impression.
  5. Film should be completely shot afresh and no film or other video mixed or edited.
  6. Topic for Short Film will be announced shortly.
  7. The team should consist of all boys or all girls.

 

V. FINE ARTS

1. ON THE SPOT PAINTING

  1. The item will be conducted on the spot with the participants having to paint  on the subject given by the in-charge of the competition.
  2. The duration will not be more than 2 ½ hours.
  3. The size of the painting will be half imperial size
  4. The painting can be done in oil, water, poster or postal colours.
  5. The participants should bring their own material..

2. CARTOONING

  1. The item will be conducted on the spot on the given subject/ideas.
  2. The duration will not be more than 2 hours.
  3. The participants should bring their own material.

3. COLLAGE

  1. The item will be conducted on the spot on the given subject/ideas.
  2. Maximum time is 2 hours.
  3. The participants should bring their own material like colour papers, scissors, glue, etc.,

4. RANGOLI

  1. The item will be conducted on the spot on the given subject/ideas in a given fixed size box.
  2. Only colours should be used.
  3. Salt and rice should not be used.
  4. The duration will not be more than 2½  hours.
  5. It will be judged on the basis of the theme, number of colours used, neat outline and overall impression.
  6. The participants should bring their own material.

5. ON THE SPOT PHOTOGRAPHY

  1. The participant has to bring his/her own digital camera of not more than 12 mega pixels
  2. The digital camera should have a memory card which will be formatted by the judges before the commencement of the contest
  3. The time limit will be 2.30 hours
  4. The participant has to capture 5 photographs on the theme announced on the spot by the judges.
  5. No mixing, matching or morphing of photographs will be permitted.
  6. Software such as Photoshop etc. for enhancing images not permitted.
  7. The organizers will have all rights for the use of these pictures as and when they deem fit.
  8. Digital images are evaluated on the basis of (1) IMPACT, (2) COMPOSITION  (3) TECHNICAL QUALITY, and (4) SUITABILITY for the specific theme.
  9. The additional instructions will be announced on the spot.

6. S.U.P.W. (SOCIALLY USEFUL PRODUCTIVE WORK)

  1. The showpiece or exhibit should be prepared prior to the show and displayed during the exhibition.
  2. The exhibit should be prepared using waste products only.
  3. Each participant is allowed to prepare only one item.
  4. Judgement is based on its cost effectiveness and utility.
