Science Congress 2014

Presentation of  NCSC projects by the Child Scientists commenced at the Venue after the Inauguration. The Guests and the Member Secretary, APCOST keenly observed the process of evaluation. Guests who visited the Presentations  include Sri V.V. Lakshminarayana, IPS ,Sri K.V.Srinivasulu reddy, District Educational Officer  East Godavari  District, Sri Ch. Santhanam, Secretary, Association of Mathematics Teachers of India, Routhu Surya Prakash, Rajahmundry City M.L.A, Sri M. Markandeyulu , Addl. Joint Collector, Prof. Sudhakar C Agarkar, Scientist, Homi-Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mumbai, Sri M.V.V.S.Murthy, Senior Principal, Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, Dr. P.V.Subba Rao, Project Director, APCOST, Sri M. Suresh, Principal, Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, Several civilians, Guide Teachers, Evaluators, APCOST officials and Sri Prakash Staff participated.
PRESENTATION OF PROJECTS BY THE CHILD SCIENTISTS :
Several Child Scientists have expressed happiness about their participation in the State Level Event. 


During the Inaugural Function, the Guests released inspirational science related  Leaflets and Books authored by Sri G.Vasantha Kumar, District Coordinator-NCSC, East Godavari and Sri M. Srinivasulu, District Coordinator-NCSC, Prakasam.

Sri M. Suresh, Principal, Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, Rajahmundry welcomed the dignitaries and the participants while Sri G. Vasantha Kumar, District Coordinator-NCSC, East Godavari District proposed a vote of thanks.

Dr. K.S.Narendra Babu, Head of Research Centre in Hyderabad spoke on the occasion and inspired the students.

Sri K.V.Srinivasulu Reddy, District Educational Officer, East Godavari district has expressed   happiness about organizing this State Level event in East Godavari District and stressed on the relevance of NCSC methodology to the present day education especially for science learning.  He called upon the teaching community to give utmost importance to the ideology of NCSC for development of Research abilities among the students from a very early age.

Prof. S.R. Santhanam, Secretary, Association of Mathematics Teachers of India, Chennai, participating as the Honorary Guest, emphasized that teachers should find ways to bring out the innate talents present in the students and nurture them to achieve   Scientific and Technological capabilities. He has reminded the child prodigies that non-routine thinking is one important aspect that will help them achieve success in their work.

Sri Ch. Vijay Prakash, Joint Secretary, Sri Prakash Educational Institutions encouraged the students to come out of the many constraints that hold them from progress. He further expressed happiness about hosting the State Level Event of 21st NCSC- 2013 in their institution and thanked APCOST for choosing their institutions for this event.

Sri V.V. Lakshminarayana, IPS., Guest of Honour, lauded the ancient Indian scholars like Aryabhatta, Varaha Mihira, Kautilya, Charak, Susrutha for their contributions that have initiated many great inventions and discoveries.  In Sri Prakash  hall of Fame, life sketches of  Scientists from India and abroad are showcased. He wished that child scientists of today should find a place in such halls of fame and wished that Sri Prakash should build more such halls of fame to accommodate sketches of Indian Scientists.   He was confident that  that the 21st Century belonged to India. He urged the students to make India proud. He called upon the Academicians to organize programs that would recognize the immense potential in the children and ignite their spirits towards exploration. He advised the students to make best use of the NCSC platform for transforming their careers to become great scientists and academicians in order to mould themselves to be able to provide solutions to address the challenging problems prevailing in the society.  He reminded that Great Scientist Albert Einstein once stated that they owed a lot to the Indians for their contributions to the development of Science & Technology.

He added that, a total of 1771 projects were presented by the Child Scientists at the District Level in 13 districts of  Coastal and Rayalaseema Regions. 112 projects have been selected for presentation at the State Level Event.  Out of which, 17 projects will be selected for National Level Event of 21st NCSC – 2013 scheduled to be held at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh State during 27th -31st December 2013, he said.

Presiding over the Inaugural Function, Er. Y.Nagesh Kumar, Member Secretary, APCOST & State Coordinator informed that NCSC  is the most visible and exciting activity  of National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. NCSC is drawing the attention of about 50 lakh scientific and academic fraternity ranging from Students and Teachers to Research Scholars, Scientists and Professors all over the Country, he said and informed that the Focal Theme for 21st NCSC is Energy : Explore, Harness & Conserve.

The Chief Guest of the Inaugural Function, Prof. Sudhakar C Agarkar, Scientist, Homi-Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mumbai after declaring open the Event, said that India is known for its extraordinary intelligence for centuries and produced World class innovations for the benefit of man-kind. India needs such inspirational programs to emerge as the Super Power in Science & Technology leading to over all socio-economic development of the Nation as a whole, he observed. He advised the students to emulate great scientists and to utilize to the full the great learning opportunities available from different sources.

NCSC is catalyzed and supported by National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science & Technology (DST), GoI, and NCSTC Network is the National Organizer. APCOST is implementing the NCSC programme in Andhra Pradesh in association with Dept., of School Education & SCERT, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh.

ANDHRA PRADESH STATE COUNCIL OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY (APCOST) commenced the State Level Event of 21st National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) today in Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, Diwan Cheruvu, Rajahmundry amidst great joy and enthusiasm. The Inaugural Function of the Event witnessed a gathering of 290 child scientists, guide teachers, evaluators, academicians, scientists and officials from various departments.
