The 13th edition of SPANDANA, a creative festival, which started on 28th Dec came to an end in a glittering Closing Ceremony, celebrating creativity at its best for three thrilling days. The mini Youth Festival with more than thirty events in six categories—music, dance, llilterary events, theatre arts, fine arts and sports tested the mettle and wits of the contestants from SPACES Institute for P.G. Studies, SPACES Degree College and, Sri Venkateswara College of Education and Primary Education.The closing ceremony started at 3.00 pm on the final day. Sri K Veerraju, Convenor, Spandana came up with the final report. In this spell of SPANDANA, a total number of more than 700 students had contested. He congratulated all the participants and hoped that all students would learn valuable lessons from such high level competitions positively.
Dr Vemuri Ravindra Babu, Principal Scientist, DRR (Directorate of Rice research), Hyderabad, Sri Nekkanti Subbarao, an outstanding farmer and Smt P Pratyusha, Prime Time News Presenter, TV 9 were the Special Guests on stage. Smt P Pratyusha is a fine product of Sri Prakash, who studied here from 6th to Intermediate.Dr Vemuri Ravindra Babu was felicitated on this grand occasion by Sri Nekkanti Subbarao and the other Special Guest. Sri KRJ Sarma, a retired Telugu Pandit read out the felicitation citation to the audience. The Sriprakash Calendar for the year 2014, prepared by the creative team of Sri Prakash, was released on this colourful occasion.Later addressing the audience Dr Ravindra Babu appreciated the diversified agricultural practices at Sri Prakash. He attributed the success of green, white and blue revolutions to farmers. He urged the students to possess courage, conviction, confidence, communication skills, commitment and character. He opined that students should inculcate positive thinking and cultivate the habit of active reading.
Sri Ch V K Narasimharao, Secretary and Coorespondent urged the students to realize that scientists, farmers and youth are three pillars to strenghthen the society. He exhorted the youngsters to trurn down the offers made by the corrupt politicians. He urged the youth to utilize the energy and resources to do away with imports from other countries. Sri Ch Vijay Prakash, Joint Secretary of Sri Prakash Educational Institutions, gave away winning trophies to the winners and honoured the Student Guests and the Special Guests with mementoes. He had identified the farmer with true service. He felt they should be passionate about that whatever field youngsters choose.The other Special Guest Sri Nekkanti Subbarao said that education is the most powerful tool to achieve anything in this world and the most dangerous thing is hunger. He urged the students to turn to agriculture for better changes. He promised to get Dr MS Swaminathan to Sri Prakash Campus to inspire youngster to take to agriculture.The highlight of SPANDANA is a Panel Discussion on “Youngsters’ Right to Vote is a War on Corruption,” moderated by Sri Bhanumurthy, Principal, Sri Prakash Junior College. The student guests were the panelists: Sri Rama Chandra Murthy, Bh Gayatri, P. Divya and Ch NSS Venkatrao raised several burning issues on poverty in corruption, online voter registration, punitive measures against public servants for not educating the potential voters and not casting vote and vehemently supported the youth utilizing their right to vote as an invariable responsibility.
Smt Pratyusha felt she owed a lot to SPACES Degree College for inspiring creative talents in her. She urged the students to complete education first and focus on career. She advised the students to respect the parent and the teachers. She exhorted the young voters to make the best use of the right to vote to change the plight of the country. There was an electrifying final session in which eleven best dances were adjudicated in the evening to decide the top prize winners. All the performers were very much excited anticipating the best in their favour. The judges themselves went through a tough time for deciding the winners. Undoubtedly the three days have turned out to be an inspiring world of action and spirited competition at its best.
