Can Mathematics truly be understood only within the four walls of a classroom? At Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, Annavaram, our Grade 7 and 8 students discovered that the answer is no.
Today, our students were thrilled—not because they missed their Mathematics class, but because they experienced Mathematics in action at a nearby small-scale UPVC manufacturing industry. They observed how angles, length, width, shapes, and precise measurements are essential in designing and manufacturing high-quality door frames, windows, and mosquito doors.
The industry supervisor gave a detailed demonstration of the entire manufacturing process. Students keenly observed the functioning of imported machines such as cutting, welding, drilling, and carving machines, understanding how each machine contributes to producing accurate and durable products. They carefully noted every step and enthusiastically interacted with the workers.
Curious minds asked thoughtful questions about the source of UPVC profiles, the amount of material wasted during production, machinery investment, product marketing, and the challenges involved in running a small-scale industry. The workers patiently explained every aspect, giving the students valuable insights into entrepreneurship, manufacturing, and business management.
The visit transformed textbook concepts into real-life experiences. By observing, touching, measuring, and questioning, the children gained practical knowledge, developed problem-solving skills, and realized that Mathematics is not just a subject—it is the foundation of engineering, design, and industry. The educational visit left every student inspired, confident, and eager to connect classroom learning with the real world.
