The 'Abhyudaya Cycle Yatra' organised by the Visakhapatnam Range Police to create awareness against drug menace, received overwhelming response at Sri Prakash Vidhya Soudham, Payakaraopeta on 11th November, 2025. A large number of students, staff members of Sri Prakash Educational Institutions, participated in the programme. With an aim to make Payakaraopeta and surrounding villages a drug-free, a grand βAbhyudayaβ cycle rally was organised here on Tuesday, very prestigiously led by Smt. Anitha, Home Minister, Government of Andhra Pradesh to encourage youths to stay away from drugs. Speaking on the occasion, Smt. Anitha, Home Minister, Government of Andhra Pradesh expressed concern over how a drug epidemic was taking shape and that the drug abuse had increased by 200 percent in the last decade. She suggested that drug awareness workshops should be made mandatory in every educational institution. Suggesting students to stay away from any form of addiction, Sri. V.V.S.S. Bhanu Murthy, Principal, Sri Prakash Junior College, stated that not only drugs but any habit including social media should not become an addiction. He advised the students that their future is in their hands and that they could mould it in any manner they wish to. He reiterated the students should come forward to fight against this evil. βOur aim is to reach out to every household, every person and convey the importance of leading a drug-free lifeβ, he added.
An oath was carried under the guidance of Smt. D. Sri Lakshmi, academic incharge, Sri Prakash Junior. βI am aware of the ill effects of drug abuse and I solemnly promise not to indulge in drug abuse. I also swear my sincere contribution to prevent and advise my family members and friends not to fall into the habit of drug abuse.β
