SRI PRAKASHITS ON AN EXPEDITION TO THE WORLD OF WEAVING

The young Sri Prakashites of Grade VII,  Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan, Tuni, visited the Weavers Cooperative society, ( Chenetha Varthaka Sangam )  Payakaraopeta  on 24th November, 2022 to have a  hands- on experience of  the art of weaving . This yatra was under taken as an extension to the learning  of  the lesson – ‘the art of weaving , in English reader . The President of Chenetha Varthaka Sangam   Sri. Robbi  Subrahmanyan Prasad enlightened  the children on the intricate art of weaving, explaining then clearly how designing , dyeing and weaving takes place in natural methods. The children had their quires on the beautiful art of JAMDANI weaving answered by the  weavers who were working on the handlooms. The students felt enthralled at the process  as the weft yarn loaded shuttle moved between the warp yarns creating the beautiful fabric.  The students also came to know the plight of handloom workers  despite the fact that hand loom industry  is the largest economic  activity in India after Agriculture.
