Ugadi, the beginning of Telugu New Year, was celebrated In a grand and traditional way at Sri Prakash Vidhya Niketan Tuni. The stage was set right in a very traditional manner with mango leaves decking up the entire place. All the Athidis and Parents were given a traditional welcome by the students. Students attracted the attention of each and everyone in the audience with a fine rendition of the Ramayana and the Mahabharata, Eka pathrabinayanam on Jandyla Sastri the character in sakshi vyasalu written by Panuganti Lakshmi Narasimha Rao.
As there is a saying that new things are started on Ugadi day, Sri Prakash inaugurated the first public library of the town with the name “Chitturivari Arugulu”. The importance of Ugadi is to listen to Panchangam and Sri Dorbala Prabakara Sarma was invited to do the honours. Our students from primary to high school performed samuhika padya patanam from Vemana, Sumathi, Bhagavat Gita and Potana Baagavatham. The kolatam dance performance by VI class girls enthralled the audience as well .
For every Ugadi it is our privileged practice common people who have made their mark. This year Vidhya vignan Sri. Suri Surya Narayana Murthy who is an Ayurvedi doctor in Tuni was felicitated . Mrs.Nemala Ramanamma garu who became famous for her pakam garelu at Perumalapuram. was also felicitated. Smt. Aakella Venkata Durga Naga Satya Balabanu who was the first lady awardee as Dwisathavadhani, Samanthakasiromani, Vanithathilaka and Ashtavadhani was invited to perform ashtavadhanam with 7 pruchhakas around giving difficult situations to answer. It was an awesome performance which amazed and made everyone know the usage of our telugu language.
