Class IX Students Visit Dragon Fruit Orchard to Explore Natural Farming Practices

A Day of Experiential Learning
Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan, State Board, Payakaraopeta, organised an educational field trip for the students of Class IX to a dragon fruit orchard on 8 September 2026. The visit was organised to provide students with practical exposure to organic farming, natural farming and sustainable agricultural practices.
The field trip offered students an opportunity to step beyond the classroom and experience farming practices in a real-life setting. They observed the dragon fruit plants, learned about orchard management and understood the importance of maintaining healthy soil through natural and organic methods.
๐ฟ Learning from an Organic Farmer
The students were warmly guided by Sri P. Ramarao garu, an organic farmer and the owner of the dragon fruit orchard. He explained various aspects of dragon fruit cultivation and shared his practical experience in organic farming.
He highlighted the importance of adopting environmentally friendly farming practices and maintaining soil health. The students interacted with him enthusiastically and gained valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities involved in organic agriculture.

One of the major highlights of the field trip was a practical demonstration on the preparation of liquid bio-fertilizer.
Sri A. Ramakrishna, Natural Farming Trainer from Tuni Mandal, explained the process of preparing liquid bio-fertilizer, including the materials required, the method of preparation and its importance in natural farming.
The demonstration helped students understand how naturally prepared bio-inputs can be used to improve soil fertility and support healthy plant growth. The interactive session encouraged students to ask questions and develop a deeper interest in sustainable farming.
