“Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think”. With this intention, an educational institution was established in 1977 with the name of Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan which now has many branches. It has a tradition to celebrate Foundation Day to remember this memorable milestone every year. As a part of it, 49th Foundation Day of Sri Prakash Educational Institutions was celebrated on 18th and 19th August 2025 on a grand scale.
Altogether there had been 24 contestants in the junior category and 12 contestants in the seniors representing from various branches of Sri Prakash Educational Institutions such as Tuni, Payakaraopeta, Rajahmundry, Peddapuram and Kakinada.
The audience enjoyed with many euphonious lyrics as the participants mesmerized them with their songs. Mrs. Kousalya, noted playback singer of Tollywood who was the chief guest, beguiled the audience with her live performance. Similarly, Sri. R. Durga Prasad, noted key board player, Smt. R. Sunita, a B high grade artist, All India Radio and N. Ravi Shekhar, lightning-fast key board player were the members of the jury, made the audience spellbound with their live performances.
K. Pauline Kelly of class IX, M. Lakshmi Nikitha of class IX and U. Lasya Priya of class VII SPVN (CBSE) Tuni got through the first round of singer’s choice to enter the finals on day 2 on 19th August. In the final rounds, U. Lasya Priya with her mellifluous voice and unfailing performance, stood as the 2nd Runner up and M. Lakshmi Nikitha with her melodious voice secured the third place in Juniors. The gathering of students, parents, guests and the staff enjoyed the programme thoroughly.
Sri Ch. Vijay Prakash, Joint Secretary, SPES, felt nostalgic and advised the students to enjoy such lively moments. Smt. Kousalya in her message exhorted the parents to positively encourage their children in arts other than their studies.
The 19th edition of GRMD proved to be a fantastic feast to the eyes and ears of all the music lovers around.
