Students of class 6 visited the weaving units at Mangavaram road, Payakaraopeta to have a firsthand experience of ‘weaving’, as a part of Yatra. Mr. R.Subhramanya Prasad, a master weaver was all ready with his vast experience to brief about the art of weaving in his weaving unit where the children gathered. He explained about the working of weaving loom, raw material, different textiles, marketing of textiles specially sarees etc. The children learned about the design machine called Jacquard. They also came to know through the discussions about how a hand loom society works government’s initiative on handloom sector, labour involved and the problems faced by the weavers. Mr.R.Subhramanya Prasad was presented our school memento for his kind gesture. On an all, the experience on art of weaving was whole some.
