Our school had the privilege of welcoming Mr. Bade Premkumar, Panchayat Secretary of Srunagavruksham Panchayat, Thondangi Mandal, for an informative and interactive session with our students of Grades:5 to 9. He addressed the students with great clarity and explained the functioning of the government in a simple and engaging manner. During his session, Mr. Premkumar spoke about the three organs of the government—the Legislature, the Executive and the Judiciary— helped students understand how each of these plays an important role at the national, state and local levels. He also explained how governance works in rural and urban areas, highlighting the responsibilities of Panchayats and Municipalities helping students recognise the importance of local government in daily life.
A major part of his interaction focused on the electoral process. He clearly explained how elections are conducted, beginning with the filing of nominations, election campaigning, voting procedures and the importance of possessing a Voter ID. Students also learnt about the duties of polling officers, the counting of votes, declaration of results and the role of elected representatives in a democratic system. He further explained how authorities handle mistakes or unexpected situations during elections to ensure that the process remains free and fair.
Students were greatly benefitted by his visit. They gained valuable knowledge about how the government functions at different levels, how elections are carried out and why active participation in the democratic process is important. The session inspired students to become responsible citizens who understand and appreciate the working of our democratic system. We thank Mr. Bade Premkumar for sharing his time, experience and insights with our students with such dedication and clarity.
